Tom McKenna paid his dues as a folk guitarist in the heady folk scene in Ireland of the mid 70’s. He formed a duo called Kavanagh and McKenna with World Champion banjo player Willie Kavanagh They were quiet successful “in spite of the day jobs” and twice performed on the national radio station Radio Eireann. They opened for luminaries like Paul Brady, Christie Moore and Paddy Reilly among others. He played bass and lead guitar in local rock and country bands. One such band The Marylanders spawned the duo Foster and Allen.
He immigrated to America in 1992. Expecting to be immersed in Texas Swing, he instead got involved with the local Celtic music scene in San Antonio and Austin. “I traveled so far to discover my Irish roots”. This unplanned immersion led to the formation of Down @ Flannery's which later evolved into Goshen Pass.

Tom McKenna and Fred Masinter have been performing for weddings, wedding receptions and private parties for 14 years.
